A Dog-Friendly Weekend in Prescott

The 100% fenced backyard at Positively Prescott

Prescott is a great town to visit with a dog. It is cooler than the Valley, the trails are close, and plenty of downtown patios welcome four-legged guests. Here is how we would plan a weekend with the pup.

Start with a yard they can run in

Positively Prescott welcomes pets for a $75 pet fee. The half-acre backyard is 100% fenced, with tall pines to sniff around and plenty of room to run, and we leave extra supplies for your pets in the laundry room.

One heads up: deer like to stop by for an afternoon snack, so keep an eye out before you let an excited dog out the back door.

Dog parks

  • Willow Creek Dog Park, on Willow Creek Road: the Beneful Dream Dog Park, about two fenced acres with a fire-station theme honoring the Granite Mountain Hotshots
  • Mountain Valley Park Dog Park, in Prescott Valley: two acres with separate areas for small and large dogs, agility equipment, water fountains and shade

An easy walk

Watson Woods Riparian Preserve has an easy loop through cottonwoods and willows along Granite Creek, next to Watson Lake. Keep dogs on a leash and pack out waste.

Patios that welcome dogs

These spots have dog-friendly patios. Rules can change, so check with the restaurant before you bring your dog:

  • The Barley Hound
  • LazyG Brewhouse
  • The Prairie Patio at Wren House
  • Creekside 45
  • Whiskey River Tavern
  • Farm Provisions
  • The Fat Frog
